Bride and groom enjoy perfect weather, perfect wedding

Hello to all of you out there in newspaper land and maybe Internet land, depending on how you read your news. I don't know where to start telling you about the wedding. I could pick the best part, but it was all good. The bride was not only beautiful, she was glowing. The groom was a handsome young man and the entire wedding party was picture perfect, including the mother and father of the bride. The weather, oh my goodness, what a gorgeous day. Bridgette had wished for a 70-degree day and it was just about there with not a cloud in the sky. All things went just as the bride wished. A family friend, Chris Skipworth, married them. He is the son of Roger Skipworth, who was our pastor in Dunmor. He knew we wanted his dad, but he graciously filled in because his dad was out of town.

The food, the flowers and the dancing also went according to plans. Things got a little nerving when the DJ was late. The flowers were done by Brandon (our son), who was also the man of honor. They were Kodak worthy. There was another little thing we did - put the roses in water, the next day they were drooping. We had forgotten to take them out of the bag before putting them in the water. We were just hoping the boutonnières and the corsages would not fall off. We told the bride and she said it didn't matter. If the petals fell off they would just have some greenery.

She was not on cloud nine, but cloud 10 and nothing was going to bring her down. We got ready at the home of a dear friend, Mildred, who lives next door to the church. Well, the maid of honor was on guard duty. The bride did not want anybody to see her before the wedding, so Casey had to turn some visitors away at the door. She may be able to get a job as a bodyguard. When she told them they could not come in, they did not argue with her. They knew she meant business.

Did Gary and I cry? Just a little. Bridgette and Tomas wrote their own vows and there were a few tears at that point. I know she is not the first bride in the world and certainly will not be the last and I know several of you have been through weddings with your children. But Gary and I are so happy for them. It is exciting to see them so much in love. Some of you have asked me if it is my daughter who lost the baby. Yes, it is and they lit a candle in memory of Jessie. I just see good things happening for them. Thank you all for bearing with me during this wedding. I may have sometimes gone a little overboard telling you things that you did not care about, but we love our kids and are so proud of them all. I have looked at some pictures but I have gotten orders from the bride to not share them until she gets home. Now I will be carrying my photo album around in my purse.

Happy birthday last week to a couple of ladies. Andrew Gaines wishes his mom Ashley a happy 40th birthday. Will McClure says they celebrated his mom's birthday and she is 40 something. We hope both of you had a great day.

Macey Browning celebrated her 4th birthday on Nov. 13. You can bet big brothers Ethan and Preston and the whole Browning family had a big party and, as usual, Macey ran the show.

Jason Cumens had a birthday yesterday and was excited about his cake and gifts. He also loves his teachers, Ms. Whitney and Ms. Smith. He says they are the best ever.

Another reminder that the Monday Nite Music Fest will be Nov. 30. It starts about 6:30 p.m. with snacks around 9 in the fellowship hall. We already know that Janie Jet and her dummy Jerry will be there and you won't believe the ones of us who talk to the dummy. We also have Phyllis Burke from Hopkinsville and Charley Vaun from Nashville, plus all your favorites. If you have not heard Mr. Charlie Crowley sing, you have missed a blessing. Hope to see you there. If you need a ride call me and I will get you there.

Congratulations to the winners of the "Art Window Painting" in downtown Hanson. They were 1st place, Mackenzie Marks; 2nd, Paige Allison; and 3rd, Caty Gipson. All the 5th graders participated and it made the windows in Hanson happy for a while.

This Saturday will be the annual bazaar at the Light House Church. According to my friend Barbara Harper, there will be something for all. They will have baked goods, homemade candies and rolls, trash and treasures, crafts and you can also get breakfast. I will be sure to get there for some of Ms. Linda's divinity.

Thanks to all of you who supported the book fair last week. Ms. Dana says it was a success. Scott Schaefer asked her if maybe at the next one she could have a buy one get one free sale. She told him she had done that in the past and maybe we could work something out.

Jacob Abell wants to wish his little brother Justin a late happy birthday. Justin is in preschool at Hanson. He celebrated his 5th birthday on Nov. 11 with plenty of cake, ice cream and presents.

Well, Stacy Opp could not wait any longer. She had to dig out the closed toe shoes and long pants. She is one of us who like to wear sandals, flip flops, shorts and capris as long as we can. With the weather being so warm these last few days, it is so hard to put up the summer things. She gave in but says she will definitely wait until about January to get out her coat.

Congratulations to the Students of the Week: Jacoria Robinson, Bret Blackford, Jordan Pendley, Kaiden, Jacob Abell, Courtney Atherton, Chantel Johnson, Seth Daniel, Jonah Clemons, Jason Cumens, Chloe Hinton, Kalista Brotherton, Remington Perkins, Jonathan Barnes, Cade Cunningham, Keelie Carter, Natalie Embry, Kendall Baldwin, Kristaian Hayes, Isaiah Davis, Seth Clemons, Courtney, Sims, Lexie Groth and Ashlyn Rogers.

That will do it for another week of Happenings in Hanson. Gosh y'all, it is turkey time and I am wondering where Halloween went The ghosts just slipped by and I missed them. Guess I had better get with the program. It would be terrible to miss Santa.

Have a great day. Life is good.
