Great weather and autumn activities for all to enjoy

Published: Tuesday, December 1, 2009 12:11 PM CST
Good morning Hopkins County. What a bright and beautiful morning it is as we prepare for Thanksgiving. I do hope and pray that each of you has a great Thanksgiving.

My dear friend Floyd Gibson and his Border Line Band came to Our Little Prairie this past week and put on a great show. They had a great crowd at the Senior Citizens building. Everyone had fun and enjoyed the show. I hope they will come back soon.

Penny and I met four of our friends from Cadiz at Sisters Café in Providence this past Friday night. Traci McKnight from our end of the county with her band was the entertainment. Rocky Williams, Tom Skinner and Mike, the owner of the café, are all band members. Traci is very talented and did an excellent job with those old county songs we all like. If you get a chance to go listen to her, please do. The food was great, Friday night is steak night.

Harold Lee Fox has just returned from Kansas, where he spent a week hunting a wide range of game. I have not received a report as to how successful Dude was, but will give you an update when I find out.

Rick Whitaker is slowly but surely recovering from a severe knee injury. It will take him some time and rehabilitation to get back to 100%. We wish him to best.

It was nice to see Billy Sullivan up at the Prairie Rose a week ago. As all of you know, Billy is having a bout with health problems. Please keep Billy and his family on your prayer list.

I ran into a long-time native of Our Little Prairie who lives in Madisonville now - Jerry Lewis, who has been fighting health issues for the past year. He said to tell everyone hello and that he was doing better and is in hopes of a complete recovery. We want Jerry to know that we wish him the very best and that he is on our prayer list.

I would like to wish my great niece Sterling Hunter a happy birthday. I am sure that Darrin and Tamara, her mom and dad, and her Granny Melody will see to it that she has a great birthday. I am very proud of Sterling. She is also an excellent student in Mrs. Cox's class at Christ the King.

Call 676-3986 or e-mail me at noelhardwick@yahoo.com about what is happening in White Plains and your world. Until next time this is your old buddy Noel E. signing off.
