Linda Gentry just one more famous 60-year-old
Dawson Springs News

When you see Linda Gentry around town tomorrow, wish her a happy birthday. On Thursday, Feb. 4, Linda turns the “big 6-0.” Now, Linda says that she’s fine with marking her 60th birthday; she’s not having any meltdowns over it. I hope you have a great day, Linda.
In honor of Linda's big day and thanks to the fine folks at Google, I have compiled a list of celebrities and such that have turned 60 in the last six months or will celebrate 60 years in 2010. That way, you get an idea of how old Linda actually is. (I know you appreciate this, Linda). Wink.
Actor Richard Gere turned 60 last August, as did supermodel Leslie Hornby (better known as Twiggy). Singer Lionel Richie just celebrated his 60th birthday, which makes him only a month older than Linda. Acclaimed photographer Annie Leibovitz is 60 (best known for the Rolling Stone magazine cover of John Lennon and Yoko Ono). The Peanuts comic strip marks its 60th anniversary in 2010, as does Casper the Friendly Ghost. See, Linda, you are in great company. We wish you many more.
We have another birthday to announce this week. On Feb. 8, Noah Chappel marks his fifth birthday. Noah will celebrate with a "Wall-E" themed party at Lucky Lanes Bowling Alley. Have fun being 5, Noah.
We'll wrap up this week with some humor, thanks to my young pal Jakob Purdy. Jakob was traveling through town with his mom, Crystal Todd Purdy, and her fiancé, Stevan Nichols. Stevan noticed a home that had two cars in its yard, both for sale. He pulled into the driveway, thinking he'd take a look at the automobiles. Jakob noticed the "For Sale" signs on the cars and asked his mother about their purpose. The owner of the home was selling the house too, with a sign on the tree out front. Jakob exclaimed, "That tree is for sale, too!" Crystal asked, "Should we buy the tree?" Jakob replied, "Nah. Us has trees, Mommy." Thanks for the smile, Jakob.
Until next week, thanks for reading. Please contact me with your doings in Dawson Springs, as I look forward to your e-mails, calls and chats. Call me at 871-7128 or e-mail RCBruch@AOL.com.
