I’m borrowing from Sara Coleridge’s poem, “The Months.” “June brings tulips, lilies, roses, Fills the children’s hands with posies.” Don’t these months fly by?

Birthday wishes go to Jamie Brooks, Joseph Winstead and Andrea Inglis today. Happy birthday, Emmeline “Peanut” Knowles, June 27. Russell Carroll, Edna Combs, Joy Forbes and Aden Pollard share June 28. June 29 is birthday time for sweet big boy Keaton Alexander Putty, who turns 1, and for dear friend Josephine Haile who turns 85. Aunt Wilma Ricakrd (86), sister-in-law Peggy Foe and Shelby Myers celebrate June 30. Happiness to Parlon Ross “Perry” Abbot, to David “BoBo” Adamson and to Regina Chaney, July 1. Belated best wishes to Linda Martin who celebrated June 18. These all hold special places in our hearts. We hope you can feel the love.

Anniversary wishes and blessings go to Gary and Vicki Travis and to Hershe and Linda Mannahan on June 25. Loving wishes to Marvin and Mary Carolyn Hibbs and to Rick Stevens and Patty Hawkins (Hovis) June 27. Henry and Karen Daugherty celebrate June 29 and Freddy and Connie Crook celebrate June 30. May the Lord continue to bless your homes and you.

My column seems to consist of lists today, but you will know that you are not forgotten and that we share your pride.

Congratulations to Lillie Brooks, John Oldham, Kaitlyn Orten, Amber Dukes, Hannah Earl, Arika Miller, Zack Hatcher, Trevor Cobb, Austin Drake, David Parker, Victoria Pollard, Kayla Hoffman, Megan Cummins, Dustie Hoffman, Julie Gray and Kayla Vandiver. All of these, our children, made the honor roll. We are proud of you.

The following earned scholarships through School Counts. Our congratulations go to LeAndra Cherry, Jacob Reasons, Jessica Schreiber, Dalaina Greer, Alyssa Hoffman, Christie Ipox, Adam Woodruff, Kandi Abbott, Clarissa Baggett and Tyler Merrell. Wonderful.

And, take notice of these who made the dean’s list at MCC. Frankie Joel Abbott, Tim Bailey, Ronnie Cobb, Jenni Hopper, Pamela LaPradd, Sherida Merrell, Whitney Moore, Jon Russell and Justin Walters. Keep up the good work.

Plans are continuing for our Independence Day celebration to be held July 3 in our community park. This list includes the dunkeroo, horse rides, horse shoes, duck pond, face painting, sack races, maybe a watermelon-eating contest and, of course, use of playground equipment. Hours are 4 to 9 p.m. We are extending this invitation to anyone who has ever called St. Charles home. Hope to see you there. We will call this a homecoming.

By the time of this publishing, two other events will have taken place in the park. On June 21, from 9 to 11 a.m. the Terry Hayes Basketball Camp was held. On the evening of June 21, the CGMA had a benefit singing to help a Lamb family who are in need of assistance from caring friends. We are happy to see our park being used.

We have lost another of our friends to the death angel. Dorothy Trotter died Monday at Harborside Healthcare. Dorothy was the wife of Doug Trotter. We send our sympathy to son Curtis and daughter Charlotte Faulk.

Johnny McKinney, a cousin of the Foe family, is in very critical condition at RMC. We need your prayers.

Also in need of prayer are Martha Brewer, Dean Duncan, Janie Chaney, Paul Wilson, James E. Wilson, Charisse Knight, Joe and Carolyn Woodruff, J. T. and Louise Hamby, Leon and Betty Smith, Don and Jean Smith, Parlon and Rachel Abbott and Dorothy Rowland. God’s blessings are needed.

Now we usher in the month of July. “Hot July brings cooling showers, apricots, and gillyflowers.” (S.C.) We shall see.
