Richard Woodson Carlton

Richard Woodson Carlton, 67, of White Plains died Monday, July 14, 2008, at his home, after a lengthy illness. He attended Little Mission Church in White Plains and was a logger.

Survivors include his mother, Irene Carlton; two daughters, Linda Crick and Ellen Scott; a son, Wayne Carlton; two brothers, Henry Carlton and Malon Carlton; and two sisters, Carolyn Stanley and Shirley Crick.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial: Mount Carmel Cemetery in White Plains. Visitation: From 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Donnie Copeland

Donnie Joe Copeland, 59, of Dawson Springs died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. He was a welder for 191⁄2 years at P&M Colonial Mine and a member of Crossroads Christian Church in Caldwell County.

Survivors include his father, Ellis Joshua Copeland; his wife, Peggy Jean Dunn Copeland; daughters Cynthia Workman and Wendy Solomon; two sons, Greg Copeland and Jon Dunn; and a brother, David Copeland.

Dorothy Mae Duncan

Dorothy Mae Duncan, 74, of Tilden died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson. She was a former employee of Speedqueen in Madisonville.

Survivors include her husband, Carroll “Mink” Duncan; a son, Mark Duncan; a daughter, Teresa Duncan; and two brothers, Lawrence Taylor and William Taylor.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon. Burial: Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole. Visitation: From 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Catherine ‘Aunt Cat’ Gilbert

Catherine “Aunt Cat” Gilbert, 88, of Henderson, formerly of Chicago, passed away at 2:25 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson. She was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Henderson County to Henry Ellis Gilbert Sr. and Lydia Darton Gilbert. She was the oldest of 10 children. She was the oldest member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Henderson County, retired from Kusan Plastics Manufacturing Co. in Henderson and had worked for Harmony Guitar Factory in Chicago. She was a seamstress and loved gardening. She was a graduate of Douglas High School in Henderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Ferman Gilbert Sr., Henry Lee Gilbert and Otis Dee Gilbert Sr.; and three sisters, Arlee Terry, Delcaine Gilbert Barrett and Thelma Bushrod.

Survivors include three brothers, Eugene Gilbert of Henderson, Joe Louis Gilbert of Chicago and Joseph Gilbert of Louisville; a devoted nephew, Stacey Gilbert of Henderson; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews; and the staff at Redbanks Nursing Home.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson, with the Rev. Adrian Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, where a celebration of life memorial DVD will be shown. Elliott Mortuary in Madisonville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ruth Drillette Zellich

Mrs. Ruth Drillette Zellich, 81, of Madisonville died at 6:41 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Regional Medical Center. Born Feb. 18, 1927, in Louisville, she was the daughter of the late Hiram Luther Drillette and Lillian Christian Drillette. She was a school teacher, having taught in Louisville and Hopkins County and retired in 1987 from Hanson Elementary School. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and a RMC volunteer. She was a very active bridge player.

She is survived by her husband, K.C. Zellich Sr. of Madisonville; one daughter and son-in-law, Victoria Z. Rivers and John Salkin of Sacramento, Calif.; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth C. Zellich Jr. and Linda Zellich of Madisonville; two grandsons and one granddaughter-in-law, Clay and Sue Ellen Zellich and Nicholas Zellich.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. July 27 at Christ Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mary Poston officiating. Memorials may take the form of donations to the Christ Lutheran Church, 1900 N. Main St., Madisonville, KY 42431. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.barnettstrother.com.
