The Madisonville-Hopkins County Vice and Narcotics Unit arrested two men around 2:30 p.m. Friday on drug trafficking charges after conducting surveillance in the area of the Pennyrile Park Apartments, according to the narcotics unit report.
Detectives say they observed Jeremy Tucker, 38, of Manitou, and Brandon Childers, 36, of Madisonville, standing outside of apartment complex. Tucker, who had an active warrant, saw one of the detectives step out of the vehicle and immediately fled on foot, according to the report. After being apprehended by detectives, Tucker resisted arrest, officers say.
After being placed under arrest, detectives allegedly discovered Tucker was in possession of crystal methamphetamine.
Childers, who also had an active warrant, did not flee or resist arrest and complied with detectives, police said.
Tucker was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), second offense, second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot) and resisting arrest. Tucker was also charged with a parole violation warrant out of Hopkins County for a previous charge of trafficking in methamphetamine.
Childers was charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Childers was also charged with two counts of failure to appear on Hopkins County warrants.
