Mary Lou Lutz, 96, of Madisonville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, at Madisonville Health and Rehab.
She was born July 16, 1923, in Manitou to the late Lou Etta Parrish Duncan and the Rev. Oscar Lee Duncan. Mary was formerly employed with First Baptist Church Daycare. She attended Concord General Baptist Church in Manitou, where she loved attending, praising and serving the Lord. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, canning and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Lona Ray Lutz; brothers Joseph Duncan and Edward Lee Duncan; and her grandsons, Chad Bates and Adam Bates.
Survivors include her daughters, Shellia (Lowell) Sharkey of Manitou and Vicky Bates of Brentwood, Tennessee; son Phil (Virginia) Lutz of Largo, Florida; grandsons Brian Lutz, Jay Sharkey and Jacob Bates; granddaughters Jennifer Sharkey Gaines, Christa McCormick Pepin and Amanda Lutz Wedin; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Fleming officiating. Burial to follow at Concord General Baptist Church Cemetery in Manitou.
The visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour Sunday at the funeral home.
The pallbearers are Jay Sharkey, Brian Lutz, Steven Gaines, Steve Pepin, Randy Duncan and Casey Duncan.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to Gideons International or the Concord General Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
