Coming soon to a library near you: A Universe of Stories! This is the theme for this year's Summer Reading Program. We celebrated last month by enjoying Star Wars Day at the library with light saber crafts, refreshments and a surprise showing. I want to throw out a huge thank you to all the patrons that stopped by and that have came by since to sign up for the Adult Summer Reading Program (SRP). Now I want to share with you what is in store these next two months for the Adult SRP.
How does the Adult Summer Reading Program work? You read! We don't tell you what books to read or what genre to enjoy. You read what you normally would have been interested in anyway. Once you complete a book, an e-book, or an audiobook, come into the library and fill out our quick book review sheet. It's seriously quick -- less than three sentences! Each book review sheet counts as a ticket entry for weekly prize drawings and our grand prize drawings at the end of the summer. Don't have time to read as much as you want? Come to a program! For each HCMPL Program or special event you attend, you can fill out a program review sheet. Each program review sheet also counts as one ticket entry for weekly and grand prize drawings. Program reviews are only good for Adult or Family Programs - programs for children only (ex. Summer Reading, Story Hour, Teen Night) do not count. But don't worry! We have many programs available this summer for you to come try out!
We have our next Brown Bag Book Club on June 13, speaker TBD.
Brown Bag Book Club meets at noon on the second Thursday of every month. We have guest speakers each meeting, and we spend our time discussing a new book each month. Also on June 13, we have Galaxy Pendant Crafting at 5:30 p.m. Join us and get your craft on, making pendant jewelry that is out of this world!
Mark your calendars! On June 20, we have a special event for the community. Come watch Down to Earth Aerials perform outside at the library. This free family event for all ages features an aerialist performance that definitely brings the wow factor! Down to Earth aerialists are renowned for thrilling audiences with high-energy and tightly choreographed aerial silks displays. Show begins at 6pm. Feel free to bring camping chairs or blankets! This is one event you don't want to miss!
Back due to popular demand -- in July you can look forward to Family Lego Night! In July we will also have a Community Scavenger Hunt. More information on these exciting programs to come soon.
