MURRAY - Dawson Springs eighth-grader Maddie Huddleston competed in the First Region Girls' Golf Tournament at Miller Memorial Golf Course on Tuesday.

Huddleston saved her best performance of the season for last, posting a personal-best score of 106 to finish 29th out of 35 individuals in the tournament.

"I'm very proud of her," Dawson coach Scott Dillingham said. "She struck the ball well, she played pretty well. If she chipped and putted better, she would easily be under 100.

"She's consistently improved throughout the year. She's committed golf, she loves the game, she works hard at it, and the best thing about her is that she's a wonderful person."
