HAWESVILLE -- The Madisonville-North Hopkins boys' golf team finished tied for fourth at the Hancock County Invitational on Saturday with a combined score of 359.

Eighth grader Jackson Hill finished tied for second place as an individual with a score of 76 (+4), then took third after a playoff. Hill was followed on the team scorecard by freshman Aaron Munger (87), junior Dominic Gomez (90) and eighth grader Andrew Davis (106). Freshman Skyler Burton shot a score of 129 as a reserve.

"Overall, we are still about where we were," North boys' coach Tim Davis said. "The course was tight and unfamiliar for our team. This was everyone's first time there.

"We aren't doing bad, but to be competitive in the Region, we will have to improve. Most of the mistakes were silly mistakes, and we have to improve our short game."

The Maroons are next scheduled to host Hopkins County Central for a match at Lakeshore Country Club on Monday.
